SMS marketing, done properly

For a sale, a new product or a last-minute opening, a text to customers who've asked to hear from you gets read quickly.

Send to your list

Import your customer list, group it, and send one message to hundreds of people at once.

Pick the moment

Schedule the offer for when people are most likely to act on it, such as Thursday lunchtime before a weekend sale.

Know the cost first

Before anything sends, you see how many people it will reach and how many credits it will use.

The rules in Australia

Marketing texts are covered by the Spam Act 2003. In short, every commercial message must meet three conditions:

  1. Consent: only message people who have agreed to hear from you, or who would reasonably expect to because of an existing relationship.
  2. Identify yourself: make it clear the message is from your business.
  3. A way to opt out: include a simple way to unsubscribe, and stop messaging people who ask.

txtonline doesn't process replies yet, so give an opt-out method such as a phone number, an email address or a link. This is a summary, not legal advice; the ACMA's website has the full guidance.

Example offer

Joe's Cafe: 2-for-1 coffees this Saturday only. Show this text at the counter. Opt out: reply to 0400 000 000 or email hi@joescafe.com.au
